As an artist I have worked with all types of art mediums including sculptures in Oamaru stone.
Mostly acrylic paints. I enjoy the dynamic colours achievable with paint but mostly the fluid movement achievable with tools such as rulers, sponges, pallet knives etc.
My style comes from many aspects of life, which I enjoy expressing into paint.
I tend to let my paintings gather momentum rather than forecast an end result.
At present I have an on going fascination with using paper pulp as my chosen vessel to express my artistic language.
It serves as a great medium to satisfy my eagerness to create with freedom.
I enjoy the hands on approach in the making of the pulp, through to it's application.
There is a certain amount of unpredictability with its application and with the final dried piece.
Which for me serves as an encouragement to the amazing results achievable of the pulp itself.
In the past I have crafted my own plant based fibre paper and will continue to experiment and bring these to you in the near future.
Hand crafted papers are individual and unique, there are no two papers alike.
I enjoy the physical energy of plant based pulping and the attributes that these choices make, which determine the outcome of the pulp and the extent of the papers priorities.
Having an interest in art and crafts, I joined The Learning Connexion School of Art as a correspondence student back in 2006. The journey from then until now has been one of the most challenging and exciting times of my creative endeavours.
Philosophy and Style of my Art
The fundamentals behind my philosophy and style is a recognition of links associated to my ideas and interests. The combination of these links have been layered together over time and have formed the blueprint which has universal connections, whether subtly or visually.
I enjoy being an experimental artist letting my work gather momentum and vibe and I tend to work intuitively getting lost in my process. My interests are spiritual, historical, architectural, kinetics, kinfolk, theatrical, kaleidoscopic colours of the eyes and planet earth.
I hope you enjoy the experience of viewing my work and encourage others to take a look.
